Whether you’re a lefty or a righty, fairway woods are an essential component of the golf bag for many golfers, helping us launch the ball off the fairway on our second shot (or off the tee, instead of the driver) with force and accuracy.
Left-handed fairway woods are just as effective as their right-handed counterparts, allowing left-handed players everywhere to reach impressive yardages with smooth, consistent striking, without needing to reach for a club they might not feel comfortable playing.
Titleist, TaylorMade, Mizuno and more all produce left-handed fairway woods as part of their catalogue, so you’ll always have access to the golf brand that fits you best! Better still, Clarkes Golf is home to an amazing selection of left-handed golf clubs for sale at a price you can afford, so you can build the ultimate lefty golf set entirely from scratch without worrying about the cost.
The only difference between right-handed woods and left-handed woods is in the way the clubs are manufactured; the clubheads are crafted in reverse, with the club faces orientated towards a right-moving swing.
This means left-handed golfers can still enjoy all the latest and greatest golf technology featured in their favourite left-handed golf fairways, producing stunning shots that will take them right up to the green, ready for that all-important putt.
If you’re a left-handed player and you’ve always struggled to find the right clubs to suit your needs, now is the time to make a change. And Clarkes Golf is here to help.
Home to a great selection of left-handed clubs from the leading brands in the sport - including plenty of left-handed fairways, you’ll always find the clubs you need to get the job done from a left-handed perspective.
Take a look at our selection of left-handed fairway woods below, or reach out to a member of the Clarkes team for more info.
All the major golf brands currently produce left-handed fairway woods, and other left-handed clubs, helping lefties maintain solid performances every time they head to the course. At Clarkes Golf, you’ll find left-handed fairways from such impressive brands as Callaway, Ping Srixon and more, so you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding your next fairway powerhouse! If you’d like some advice before you buy, or if you have any burning product questions, you can always reach out to Clarkes Golf and we’d be happy to help.
It’s not advisable. Right-handed players have spent their entire lives hitting shots a certain way and using golf clubs that are specifically oriented for righties. When using a left-handed fairway wood, you’ll be flipping this on its head completely and the club will feel very foreign to you. This means you won’t be able to use the club as you used your others, so it’s best to stick to the fairway woods that match your personal style. But if you’re just messing around at the driving range, feel free to give it a go and see what you think!
Of course, it’s the same difference you’d find when using right-handed fairway woods. The 3-wood is designed with power in mind, helping you launch the ball as far as possible off the deck, while the 5-wood is home to a slightly higher loft, encouraging a higher launch. But what you’ll sacrifice in distance you’ll make up for in accuracy. If you’re a lefty and haven’t picked up a left-handed 3-wood or 5-wood yet, you should definitely add them both to your bag as soon as possible.
You may have noticed there isn’t as wide of a selection of left-handed fairway woods as their right-handed counterparts. This isn’t necessarily due to a shortage and is more a result of a lack of demand. Remember, lefties only represent about 10% of the golfing population - and the population as a whole - so there’s bound to be a disparity between the number of clubs available to suit both orientations. Luckily, at Clarkes Golf, we’re home to a fantastic selection of clubs for left-handed players, so no lefty is left behind!
